Three Web Marketing Techniques


In this day and age many business use web marketing to help them reach a wider range of customers, most of the time in their own homes. Using a home website they can advertise any and all products, services and information about their business/company, as well as having a section of the website set up to sell their products/services.

Whilst having a home website is all well and good, you must also know how to use it to it's best effect and to do that a business should use some if not all of the following three techniques:

  • AIDA - This is a 4 step technique that helps create a website that is professional and feels more interesting to a customer. The four steps are:
    • Attention - Grab the customer's attention and making them aware of the product/service.
    • Interest - Increase the customer's interest in your product/service and/or interest in your website in general.
    • Desire - Focus on what drew the customer to your product/service and make them want to own it/use it.
    • Action - Finalize the sale of your product/service to the customer, which should come naturally if you have followed the first three steps (Connick, 2021).
  • Content Marketing - Is used to get your consumers interested in your product by creating supplementary materials that can be educational or entertaining to market your main product but can stand as their own piece of work (What is Content Marketing?, 2021). For instance Critical Role as both a kickstarter reward and as content on their YouTube channel are creating and releasing videos where the some of the cast and some of the Titmouse crew answer questions about themselves and creating their upcoming animated series, The Legend of Vox Macina.
  • Display Media Marketing - This is the use of banner, pop-ups and video adverts that will link to your own website but displayed across various others that may be related or similarly themed. These are the most common form of ads found on the internet, hence they can be a benefit by increasing visits to your website but also a hindrance as most people just ignore or block them with adblockers (Whatley, 2021).
